Senate Passes Bipartisan Sportsmen’s Package in Energy Modernization Legislation

April 21, 2016 (Washington, DC) –On Wednesday, the U.S. Senate passed a bipartisan Sportsmen’s package, which contained several provisions that are key to the conservation of our natural resources in the United States. One of the many provisions of the package, which covered multiple sessions of Congress spanning five years, was the National Fish Habitat Conservation Through Partnerships Act (NFHCTPA), which would codify the National Fish Habitat Partnership program.

National Fish Habitat Board Honors 2015 Award Winners

In early March, The National Fish Habitat Partnership and the Habitat Section of the American Fisheries Society were honored to present National Fish Habitat Awards to Gordon Robertson (Extraordinary Action in Support of Fish Habitat Conservation Award) and Drs. Tyler Wagner and Tyrell DeWeber (National Fish Habitat Award for excellence in Scientific Achievement).

Aarrestad, Melinchuk Appointed to National Fish Habitat Board

Two new members have been appointed to the National Fish Habitat Board, representing the Northeast Association of Fish & Wildlife Agencies (NEAFWA) and the Southeast Association of Fish & Wildlife Agencies (SEAFWA). Peter Aarrestad, appointed by NEAFWA, is the Director, Inland Fisheries Division in the Bureau of Natural Resources of the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. Mr. Aarrestad replaces Leroy Young on the Board.
