March 2015 National Fish Habitat Board Meeting Announcement

Our next National Fish Habitat Board meeting will take place in Arlington, VA all day Tuesday, March 3rd and a half-day Wednesday, March 4th at The Nature Conservancy’s headquarters offices (4245 North Fairfax Drive, across the street from the Ballston Metro station).

Partners Push to Have National Fish Habitat Legislation Included in Sportsmen's Package

Last week, the Sportsmen’s Act of 2015 was introduced in the Senate which includes numerous legislative measures beneficial to anglers and hunters across the nation. Sponsored by Senators Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), Martin Heinrich (D-NM), Jim Risch (R-ID), Joe Manchin (D-WV), Deb Fischer (R-NE) and Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND), the Bipartisan Sportsmen’s Act of 2015 contains measures that will benefit our nation’s sportsmen and women by providing increased access to our public lands and waters, improving fish and wildlife management and protecting the use of traditional fishing tackle.

Pacific Marine & Estuarine Partnership Releases Reports on West Coast Estuaries

The Nature Conservancy (TNC) and the Pacific Marine and Estuarine Fish Habitat Partnership (PMEP) are pleased to announce the release of two reports that together form a foundation for better conservation and management of West Coast estuaries:

• Nursery Functions of U.S. West Coast Estuaries: The State of Knowledge for Juveniles of Focal Invertebrate and Fish Species
• An Inventory and Classification of U.S. West Coast Estuaries
