National Fish Habitat Partnership Launches Redesigned Website

The National Fish Habitat Partnership launched a redesigned website (FISHHABITAT.ORG) in September to make the National Fish Habitat Action Plans and other online resources more accessible, and to help us better inform the American people about the collaborative landscape conservation work being done to protect, restore, and enhance aquatic habitat across the nation. The new design offers a more user-friendly format and convenient page navigability, along with enhanced mapping features. The new interactive map allows users to view details about individual projects and regional summaries of NFHP accomplishments. Users can also explore areas of interest by filtering NFHP data by project year, type, location, and species focus.

The site was specifically designed to streamline access to information about the 20 regional Fish Habitat Partnerships that form the hub of our work to conserve fish habitat nationwide. Information on previous national fish habitat assessments, historical program documents, and information on the activities of the National Fish Habitat Board are also included along with a more convenient sign-up feature for our monthly newsletter. The website contains links to the website for Beyond the Pond, the 501c3 non-profit organization established to support NFHP, as well as individual donation pages for each of the 20 Fish Habitat Partnerships.

Since 2006, NFHP has implemented over 1,500 conservation projects in all 50 states, generating over $380 million in leveraged funding. NFHP conservation projects have reconnected more than 9,800 miles of rivers and streams while conserving over 70,000 acres of river, lake, riparian, upland, estuary, and wetland habitat.

About the National Fish Habitat Partnership:
Since 2006, NFHP has supported over 1,500 projects benefiting fish habitat throughout all 50 states. This effort works to conserve fish habitat nationwide, leveraging federal, state, tribal, and private funding resources to achieve the greatest effect on fish populations through priority conservation projects of 20 Fish Habitat Partnerships that are organized around key fish species, geographic areas, or important fish habitats. In 2020, NFHP was recognized by Congress as part of the America’s Conservation Enhancement (ACE) Act. NFHP guidance and policies are developed in conjunction with our partnerships and National Fish Habitat Board.
