Submissions for the 2019 AFS/TWS Film Festival due April 1, 2019

Do you or your partners have a film to share that captures “renovating” habitat for the benefit of fish and wildlife?

Would you like to share that story in Reno, NV at the 2019 American Fisheries Society (AFS) & The Wildlife Society (TWS) Joint Annual Conference?

The Fish Habitat Partnerships that make up the National Fish Habitat Partnership (NFHP), and the Fish Habitat Section of AFS are collaborating on a proposed film festival for the joint AFS/TWS annual meeting taking place in Reno September 29-October 3, 2019. We are looking for film submissions to help us convey the many benefits that result from supporting the habitat needs of fish and wildlife. While we hope to see you at 2019 AFS/TWS, you do not have to attend the conference to submit a film for the festival.

Reno-vating Habitat for Fish and Wildlife: A Film Festival Highlighting Collaborative Habitat Conservation and Its Benefits is a two-day session proposed to feature films showcasing examples where resource practitioners and others come together to protect, restore and enhance freshwater, coastal and terrestrial habitats that support the needs of fish and wildlife. This unique session will use films to share stories capturing how landowners, anglers, hunters, volunteers, local communities, tribes, government agencies, scientists, non-profits and others are working together across the continent to solve challenges and successfully conserve many of America’s treasured species. Film categories will include fish and wildlife habitat conservation projects, target examples of on-the-ground restoration, and include other films that capture the dynamic landscapes and unique habitats that are home to our fish and wildlife. This session is intended to offer a unique opportunity for meeting attendees to collaborate and learn about successful conservation stories from across the country.

It is envisioned that films will be shown at least one time during the festival event, and depending upon the total amount of films collected, films may be shown more than once to accommodate multiple viewing opportunities over the course of the allowed symposia timeframe. In addition, a selection of films may be shown at a public event one night during the week at a local venue in the Reno area.

Deadlines:
• Completed submission form is due on April 1, 2019
• Final cut submissions with Vimeo weblink are due to festival organizers no later than June 1, 2019
